Kyle Fasel- Nothing Memorable Stays the Same (2018) (5/5)

“My mind is good at making something small seem like the end of the world.” -Kyle Fasel

I’m pretty good with words, but I still struggle to find the words to express how good this book actually is. Every single poem in this masterpiece of a book is filled to the brim with emotion. As a true lover of poetry, I have read most of the new-age poetry books on the market at this point.

In those books, some poems resonate with me, and others don’t. It is fairly hit and miss. However, in Nothing Memorable Stays the Same, the way Kyle communicates his poems makes them valid and relatable.

I got something out of every single poem in this book which is something that has never happened before while reading poetry. Whenever I pick up a book, I have the book in one hand and a highlighter in the other. This is so that I can highlight the words and poems that speak the loudest.

Though once I finished this book, I noticed that I had covered it in fluorescent yellow stripes. After reading this book more times than I’d like to admit, it has become a tattered, torn, and fluorescent piece of art that has a well-deserved place on my bookshelf. When I purchased this book, I was dealing with grief and to say this book helped me understand my own emotions is an understatement.

This book is one that I am truly thankful for which is why I have given it a well-deserved 5 stars! I recommend this book to anyone wanting to further explore their emotions in a real-time and thought-evoking way. Now, I just have to get my hands on Kyle’s next book to further enjoy his art.
